A Muslim woman presents a picture of Krishna in a Hindu temple

Kozhikode: A Muslim woman in Kozhikode, Kerala, has surprised many by gifting a painting of Lord Krishna to a Hindu temple. Jasna Salim, a 6-year-old Muslim woman living in Kozhikode, Kerala, has become a topic of discussion for her painting of Lord Krishna as a child. Jasna Salim handed over a painting in front of an idol at the Shrikrishna Swami Temple in Ulanadu near Pandalam in Pathanamthitta district of Kerala. The painting is named Unni Kannan, which in Malayalam means the childlike form of Krishna.

Jasna Salim has made many pictures of Krishna in the last six years, but his faith did not allow him to keep any picture in his house. For the last several years, she has been gifting childlike images of Lord Krishna to the famous Guruvayur Shrikrushna temple in Thrissur, but due to tradition and rituals, she is not allowed to visit the sanctum sanctorum of the temple.

Jasna Salim herself is a mother of two. As he was the youngest of three siblings, his parents used to call him Kanna in his childhood. It means the word is used for the beloved child or Krishna. She has been painting Krishna for the last five to six years. But his dream came true on Sunday when his painting found a place next to an idol of God inside the temple. “It was like a dream for me,” he said. In addition, I myself was greatly impressed by the behavior of the Ulanadu temple officials. Although she faced a lot of opposition to make a picture of Krishna in this way, but her husband always supported her.
