35,000 traders leave India out of fear under Modi government: Amit Mitra

Mitra cited three different surveys in support of his argument

The Prime Minister should present a white paper in Parliament in this regard: Demand for Mitra, Finance Minister of Bengal

New Delhi: Between 2014 and 2020, 35,000 Indian entrepreneurs with high net worth were leaving the country during the Centre's rule, said West Bengal Finance Minister Amit Mitra. He also cited three surveys conducted at different times in support of his claim.

Mitra suspected that mental anguish was responsible for the incident. He also demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should file a white paper in Parliament on the incident during his tenure.

During the rule of the government, i.e. between 2014 and 2020, about 35,000 Indian entrepreneurs with extremely high net worth were leaving the country and going to other countries as NRIs or immigrants. India ranks first in the world in the number of citizens fleeing their country to settle in the top ten, so why is this happening? Mitra said out of fear.

The West Bengal finance minister tweeted on his Twitter account that the prime minister should file a white paper in parliament on the issue. Citing the findings of a survey, Mitra said that between 2014 and 2018, about 23,000 high net worth entrepreneurs from the country were going abroad, which is the worst in the world.

The survey, conducted by Morgan Stanley, claimed that in the short span of four years between 2014 and 2018, 23,000 Indian high-net worth entrepreneurs were going abroad.

Citing the findings of a survey conducted by AFR Asia Bank, Mitra said that in a short span of one year in 2019, 7,000 Indian entrepreneurs had gone abroad as immigrants or NRIs. Another survey said that 5,000 Indian entrepreneurs were leaving the country during the year 2020.

Recall the 19-minute speech given by Piyush Goyal, in which he said that the method of trade adopted by Indian industries was against the national interest, meaning that all those who left the country became anti-national in Goyal's view. An atmosphere of fear was created by Goyal, encouraging the activity of going abroad, Mitra said.
