UN rejects China's offer for Taliban

China's proposal to extend the travel deadline for Taliban leaders to the United Nations Security Council was rejected. China said the 90-day leave for Taliban leaders to travel should be extended to 180 days.

However, in the Security Council, China's proposal was rejected by a single country and China was embarrassed. UN member states say there is no need to rush into approving the Taliban. Currently its performance needs to be monitored. The Taliban has sought membership in the UN and has also sought permission to address the UN General Assembly.

China has been supporting the Taliban since it seized power in Afghanistan. Globally, China, Russia and Pakistan are working hard to get the Taliban recognized. In addition to Afghanistan, the movement to form a group of China, Pakistan, Iran, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan has also begun.
