Terrorists in the Khanyar area in Srinagar on Sunday killed a policeman with two bullets in the head from very close range and fled. However, the incident of the attack was captured on CCTV. The attacker has been identified and will be picked up soon, security sources said.

A terrorist approached Probationary Sub-Inspector Arshad Ahmed Mir and shot him twice in the head, officials said. Ahmed Mir was rushed to SKIMS Hospital but could not be rescued. The incident took place at around 1.4 pm, officials said. The incident of the terrorist attack has been captured on CCTV.

In the CCTV footage, Arshad Ahmed Mir, a militant who was walking in Srinagar's Khanyar Bazaar, escaped after being shot twice from the roof. The attack on a resident police officer in Kupwara district has caused some panic in the market. However, Arshad Ahmed Mir is immediately shifted to the hospital, but he cannot be rescued.

Jammu and Kashmir Police Chief Dilbag Singh, while paying tributes to the slain officer, said that young officer Arshad Ahmed Mir was admitted to a hospital for a check-up of an accused. He was returning from the hospital when the terrorists attacked him. Singh added that the attacker has been identified as a terrorist and will be picked up soon.

Meanwhile, security forces shot dead a militant in an encounter on Sunday following a search operation in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district. The encounter started when terrorists opened fire on a joint search party of Army and police in the forest area of ​​Dori Mal near Barot Gali in Manjakote area. The security forces conducted a search operation in Thanamandi area on a tip-off, the security forces said. Information on the terrorist killed in the encounter and what group he belongs to is not yet available. Some other terrorists had fled to the forest area.
