Joseph Kallarngat, a Christian pastor, said that a large number of young women in Kerala were falling prey to love jihad and narcotic jihad. Where weapons cannot be used, fundamentalists use narcotics jihad and love jihad.

The statement of the pastor of Syro Malabar Church has also been criticized by the Muslim community. He said that by making such statements, the clergy wanted to create an atmosphere of communalism in Kerala.
