The IMF chief has denied allegations that he pressured China to release data

Washington, Ta. 20

The head of the International Monetary Fund, Kristalina Georgieva, has denied allegations that she pressured World Bank staff to release data in favor of China when she was CEO.

Recently, the World Bank announced that it would not release a ranking of Ease of Doing Business. “I’ve never put pressure on anyone to change the figures,” Georgieva said.

Kristalina Georgieva has also rejected a report prepared by the World Bank's Ethics Committee. Georgia and other senior World Bank officials put pressure on World Bank staff to boost China's ranking in the Ease of Doing Business report, the report said.

Georgieva told IMF staff that the correct figures were of great value to them. He never pressured staff to change the statistics.

The IMF's Executive Board Ethics Committee is currently reviewing the report of the World Bank's Ethics Committee.
