Supreme Court orders farmers to clear one-way road on Indus border

The apex court on Tuesday asked farmers protesting on the Kundli-Indus border to clear a one-way street. The apex court passed the order while hearing a public interest litigation. The court directed the Sonepat district administration to provide one-way road to the general public from the protesting farmers at Kundli-Indus border on National Highway 44.

Sonipat Deputy Commissioner Lalit Sivach reached among the farmers protesters on the Kundli-Indus border on Tuesday following a Supreme Court order. He urged the farmers to clear the road, citing the Supreme Court order and the plight of the common people.

Monica Agarwal had filed a PIL seeking to clear a one-way road on the Kundli-Indus border. According to the deputy commissioner, during the hearing on the petition, the court has ordered to clear the one-way road at Kundli-Indus border on NH 44 for the general public.

Monica said in the application that it now takes her 2 hours instead of 20 minutes to travel from Noida to Delhi and the reason behind it is the traffic jam caused by the farmers. During the hearing, Justice S.K. "Why can't you solve this problem?" Kaul asked Solicitor General Tushar Mehta. Farmers have the right to protest but the traffic on the roads cannot be stopped.
