Prime Minister Modi will chair the BRICS summit on September 9

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will preside over the virtual BRICS summit on Thursday, the External Affairs Ministry said in a statement. Russian President Vladimir Putin, Brazilian President Jair Balsanaro, Chinese President Jinping and South African President Cyril Ramphosa will attend the virtual meeting, the Indian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

Prime Minister Modi will chair the BRICS summit for the second time. Earlier in 2016, he chaired the Gawa Summit. BRICS countries include Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair the BRICS Summit on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the BRICS. India's National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and New Development Bank President Marcos Troy will also be present at the meeting on Thursday.

The meeting, to be held on Thursday, will discuss issues including multilateral system, counter-terrorism. The meeting will also discuss the impact of the Kovid-19 epidemic. The last BRICS summit was hosted by Russia. The 2020 BRICS summit was also held virtually through Corona.
