PM urges states to maintain buffer stock of drugs in every district

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also reviewed the vaccination campaign at the meeting

New Delhi: Amid fears of a third wave of corona in the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today chaired a high-level meeting to review the state of corona in the country. The health ministry had earlier said the second wave in the country was not over yet.

The Prime Minister also reviewed the vaccination campaign at the meeting. The Prime Minister was also briefed on the growth in medical infrastructure. Modi has asked the states to maintain buffer stocks of medicines in every district. Experts from the National Institute of Disaster Management said there was a need to increase pediatric facilities.

This includes services like doctor, employee, ventilator, ambulance. These facilities will be needed on a large scale if corona is spread among children. Earlier, the health secretary had said that 35 districts still had a weekly covid positive rate of more than 10 per cent. While in 30 districts the rate is between five to ten per cent.
