Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit the United States for the first time later this month amid the Corona epidemic in the country. During his visit to the US, Prime Minister Modi will for the first time personally attend a meeting of the Quad Group formed against China and will address the meeting on September 9. In addition, on September 9, Prime Minister Modi will address the 7th session of the UN General Assembly in New York. Apart from this, a bilateral meeting between Modi and Biden will be held at the White House on September 9.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will make his first personal appearance at a quad meeting during his US tour next week. At the meeting, they will discuss the global challenges, including the Koro epidemic, free trade in the Indo-Pacific region, and the Afghan crisis, with the prime ministers of the group's other allies. Other countries in the quad group include India, Australia, Japan and the United States. The group has been formed in the face of growing Chinese encroachment in the Pacific and Indian Ocean regions.

In Washington, Modi is expected to hold separate bilateral meetings with US President Joe Biden on September 9 and with Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison. The Modi-Biden bilateral meeting will be held at the White House on September 9. The two leaders have attended virtually several meetings since Biden became US president in January, but this will be their first meeting with a personal presence.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will meet Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison, Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga and US President Joe Biden at the Quad Group meeting in Washington DC on September 9, the State Department said in a statement on Tuesday. At this meeting they will review the quad vaccination initiative as part of an effort to control the Corona epidemic. The initiative was announced in March this year.

The meeting will also discuss global issues such as critical and emerging technologies, maritime security, humanitarian aid, disaster relief work, climate change and education, the foreign ministry said. This is Prime Minister Modi's first foreign trip in six months. Modi traveled to Bangladesh in March this year to mark the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the 70th anniversary of the country's independence. This is Prime Minister Modi's first foreign trip outside Asia amid the Koro epidemic.

In addition to attending the Quad Group meeting, Prime Minister Modi will address the UN General Assembly on September 9. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Biden will address the UN General Assembly for the first time in 100 years. The theme of this year's UN General Assembly is "to stand firm, to respond to the needs of the planet, to respect the rights of the people, and to revive the United Nations through the hope of recovering from the Corona epidemic." Last year, for the first time in the six-year history of the United Nations, a virtual meeting of all countries was held. This time too the heads of all countries have been given the option of personal presence or virtual presence. Criticizing the first meeting of the Quad Group, meanwhile, China said the group, designed to target other countries, could not be popular globally and had no future.
