More than 200 complaints delayed with Chief Vigilance Officer

As on December 31, 2020, the Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) had a total of 213 complaints related to corruption in various government departments pending investigation. Of these, 108 complaints were delayed for more than three years, according to a recent CVC report.

Chief vigilance officers are usually expected to complete the investigation within three months of receiving the complaint. According to the CVC's annual report for 2020, out of the complaints sent by the commission to the Chief Vigilance Commissioners for investigation, reports in 310 cases were delayed in December 2020. In which 3 complaints were delayed for more than a year.

6 complaints were delayed for one to three years and 108 complaints were delayed for more than three years. According to the report, most of the complaints were lodged with the Delhi government, the secondary and higher education department and the primary education and literacy department.

Eight of the delayed complaints with the Delhi government were delayed for more than three years. ૯ Complaints were delayed for one to three years. Five complaints were delayed by more than a year.

The CVC's annual report for 2020 was presented at the recently concluded monsoon session of Parliament and was uploaded on its website on Tuesday.
