Modi-Biden to hold China-Corona talks on Sept 23-24

The regional equations changed with the change of power in Afghanistan

The quad meeting is likely to be postponed due to the uncertain political situation in Japan

New Delhi: The first summit between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Joe Biden is likely to be held in Washington on September 23-24. Preparations are also underway to hold a quad meeting on the same dates.

However, the sudden resignation of Japanese Prime Minister Suga Yoshida due to his failure to contain Kovid could lead to a change in the quad meeting due to the uncertainty created in Japan. Suga is expected to step down by the end of this month. He is not the LDP president or the next prime ministerial candidate. So Suga is less likely to go to America in the last week of September.

If all goes according to plan, Modi is likely to take part in at least three major events. As India is a member of the UNSC, the Prime Minister may address the UN General Assembly this year, hold the first bilateral talks with Biden and attend the quad meeting in person for the first time.

The first two programs will be on schedule. According to the interim schedule issued, the Prime Minister will address the UN General Assembly on September 25. Speaking to Biden on Saturday, Australian Prime Minister Scott Morris said he could travel to Washington DC to attend the quad meeting in the next two months due to the uncertainty created in Japan.

The Modi-Biden bilateral talks become important after the changes in Afghanistan and the resulting regional equation. China is a big challenge for both the countries, so the meeting of the quad is also in full swing. Both countries have hit the covid and both countries want to further the vaccine partnership so that India can produce and export more vaccines.
