Shashi Sharur of the Congress is known for his serious statements and opinions, forcing even linguists to look up a dictionary using unfamiliar English words. Sometimes, even after deviating from the Congress party's line, he keeps presenting ideas on social media, but Tharu, who has a serious nature, was surprised to sing the famous song "Ik Ajnabi Hasina Se Mulakat Ho Gayi" by the famous playback singer of Hindi films, late Kishore Kumar. A cultural program was organized for the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Information and Technology of Doordarshan Srinagar. After the program ended, some members of the committee offered Shashi Tharoor to sing.

Shashi Sharur expressed reluctance to sing the Gita in which he hid the fact that he did not know how to sing the song. However, after repeated requests, Sharu finally agreed to sing the song. No one had any idea what the Congress MP would sing when the mic was handed over. Contrary to his calm and serious nature, Kishore Kumar's song was sung by a stranger Hasina. He did not remember the words of the song but he sang the song for 3 minutes with the help of script in his mobile. His voice sounded melodious and his gestures fun. The song was filmed on Rajesh Khanna from the movie Ajnabee which was released in 19th. Shashi Sharur shared a video clip of the song on Twitter. Some people were downloading this song of Shashi Sharur on their mobile phones. The video has gone viral on social media due to its hiccups.
