In Italy, a Somali refugee attacked five people with a knife

Opposition accuses foreigners of lax policy

Police deny involvement in terrorism: Youth consumes large quantities of drugs

Rome: A homeless man fleeing his country of Somalia to seek refuge in Italy has stabbed and injured five people. Police, however, rushed to the spot and arrested the assailant and are currently interrogating him on charges of murder.

The young Somali man fatally stabbed two ticket controllers on a bus in the Italian coastal city of Rimini on Saturday night, injuring three others.

The investigating police officer categorically denied that the incident was linked to terrorist activity, saying the attacker had consumed large quantities of drugs and carried out the attack under the influence of drugs, according to a report broadcast on Italian state TV RAI.

The country's women interior minister, Luciana Lemorzeg, said she would meet with locals on Monday to review the situation following the tragic incident in Rimini. Matteo Selvini, a right-wing leader of the Anti-Migrant League party, which has consistently opposed foreign immigrants and refugees, has long been critical of Louisiana for its lax policy on refugees.

Matteo said Louisiana should take drastic action against refugees and immigrants who have entered the country illegally. The young Somali man who boarded the bus without a ticket was attacked with a knife by the ticket controller when asked to do so, in addition to injuring two other women.
