Ashraf asked Ghani to give a plan

Just days before the phone call, the United States backed the Afghan army and launched an air strike against the Taliban.

The US president wanted General Bismillah Khan, then secretary of defense, to be given the responsibility by Ashraf Ghani to fight the Taliban.
