High Court notice to the Center on the issue of appointment of Asthana as Police Commissioner

Two PILs against Asthana's appointment

High Court petition, copy of petition in Supreme Court, do not accept: Argument in Central Court

New Delhi: An application has been filed in the Delhi High Court against the appointment of Rakesh Asruthana as Delhi Police Commissioner. In which the central government defended Asruthana. And said interveners should not be allowed to challenge the appointment of Rakesh Asruthana. The High Court later sent a notice to the Center to reply to the whole matter.

During the argument in the Delhi High Court, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta said that this was not a Jantar Mantar or a Ramlila Maidan. Any interference should not be allowed to challenge the appointment of Rakesh Asruthana.

Currently, there are two petitions in the High Court against the appointment of Rakesh Asruthana, one by Sadre Alam and the other by an NGO. The Solicitor General opposed both the petitions and the demands made in them.

The Delhi High Court had sent notices to Rakesh Asruthana and the Center over the PIL, which will now be heard on the eighth. Tushar Mehta claimed that the petition filed in the Delhi High Court was a copy of the petition filed in the Supreme Court. I.e. has been copied.

Mehta later asked the High Court for a little more time to respond. However, Prashant Bhushan, who filed the petition on behalf of the NGO in the Supreme Court, said that a copy of my petition has been filed in the High Court. I have no argument in the High Court in this matter, one of my petitions is pending in the Supreme Court.
