There were reports of bombs being planted at four places in Mumbai over the phone, which turned out to be false

Mumbai, Saturday 7 August 2021

The quake was triggered by a phone call to the police control room in Mumbai, the capital of Maharashtra, on Friday night. The caller threatened Mumbai police that bombs had been planted at CSMT, Byculla station, Dadar station and actor Amitabh Bachchan's house. Concerned police officers hastily searched the four locations along with the GRP team and the bomb disposal team but found nothing. However, the CIU (Crime Intelligence Unit) of the Mumbai Crime Branch has arrested two persons.

A Mumbai police official said that after receiving the bomb call, the political railway police, railway security force, bomb disposal team, dog team and local police personnel reached the spot and conducted a search operation. He said nothing suspicious has been found so far. However, a large number of police personnel have been deployed there. The threat is being investigated.

Earlier, a fake phone call was received late Tuesday night to bomb the US Consulate in Mumbai's Bandra Kurla complex. After that the police also investigated there and the phone also turned out to be fake. An FIR has been registered in this regard and is being investigated.
