The Afghan president fled with four cars and a helicopter full of money

MOSCOW: Russia's ambassador to Kabul said Afghan President Ashraf Ghani had fled the densely populated country with four cars and a helicopter loaded with money. They left the rest of the money because they could not afford it.

No one knows where Ghani is currently. He entered Afghanistan on Sunday and entered Kabul without facing any challenge from the Taliban. Ghani claimed he had left Kabul to avoid bloodshed.

Russia has said it will continue its diplomatic presence in Kabul. He expressed hope that he would maintain ties with the Taliban. With that he said he was in no hurry to recognize the Taliban as the ruler of the country. He will first look at their behavior.

A spokesman for the Russian embassy in Kabul said eyewitnesses said Ghani fled with four cars and a helicopter full of money. He said he actually wanted to still pay more, but there was no space in the helicopter. Because of this he had to give up the rest of the money.

Zamir Kabulov, President Vladimir Putin's special spokesman for Afghanistan, said it was unclear how much money he had left. He said he hoped all the money in the country's current budget had not been taken away. If this had happened then this would have been a bad situation for the country.
