Supreme Court: Court annoyed with redundancy of petitions, says appeal should be stopped in every case

"If there was a court above the Supreme Court, there would probably be an application against our order in every case," the bench said.

The Supreme Court has expressed displeasure over the backlog of petitions in each case. Troubled by trivial and redundant petitions, the Supreme Court said on Tuesday, "Collectively, we are all making a mockery of the judicial system."

Such petitions are making it difficult for us to resolve cases that need to be resolved and those who have been waiting for justice for a long time. The court said the currency of applying on every issue must be discouraged.

The bench of Justice Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Justice Hrishikesh Roy said, "A common man has no interest in our elaborate or big legal principles, which we are constantly talking about." A plaintiff is curious to know if his case is valid and he does not want to wait indefinitely to find out if it was true. If the verdict takes 10 or 20 years to come, what will he do with that verdict?

Justice Kaul said the Supreme Court found that civil cases had been pending for 45 years. We are also resolving such an old case. Personally I am trying to bring out the old case. "If there was a court above the apex court, there would probably be an application against our order in every case," the bench said. We have to stop somewhere.
