The Bengaluru police, which is probing alleged drug use in the Kannada film industry, said in a statement that forensic reports had proved that some of those arrested in the case last year were using drugs.

Kannada film actresses Sanjana Gallarani, Ragini Dwivedi, party organizer Viren Khanna, Aditya Alva, son of late former minister Jivraj Alva were arrested in the drug case.

"We are proud to announce that our Bengaluru police have investigated drug cases impartially and expeditiously," Bengal Police Commissioner Kamal Pant told reporters. Police have had good success in the case, which was filed in September last year.

He further said that a positive report has been received from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) in Hyderabad as a result of the investigation conducted by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) and the evidence collected by the team.

"Since we have filed a chargesheet in the court, I cannot comment further on the case but the FSL report has proved that some people were using drugs," Pant said.
