New Delhi: The BJP government had withdrawn six cases filed by the police in the Muzaffarnagar riots in Uttar Pradesh without any valid reason, but an important suggestion was made to the Supreme Court that the case could be reopened. The scuffle spread in the government.

The Muzaffarnagar riots, the largest in the country so far, have killed at least 30 people and left 50,000 homeless. Police cases were registered against several BJP leaders for their alleged role in the riots. It was submitted in the Supreme Court that out of the total cases registered in the riots, four cases were withdrawn by the Uttar Pradesh government without giving any reason. On the issue, Amicus Curiae of the Supreme Court said the case could be reopened if the High Court wanted. It may be mentioned that the communal riots in Muzaffarnagar affected many districts. In Meerut, 210 cases were registered in which 8 people were charged. Chargesheets were filed in 18 cases and final reports were submitted in 18 cases, and 120 cases were completed and 8 cases were withdrawn by the state government without any reason.

Surprisingly, the files of 30 of the eight cases that were withdrawn were completely overwhelmed, meaning that the cases were closed completely.
