Mizoram civilian injured in Assam police firing


- Tensions on Assam-Mizoram border again

- Three persons from Mizoram were shot when they went to meet a friend living in Assam

Guwahati: Dispute is escalating again on the Assam-Mizoram border. The firing was carried out by Assam police on civilians of Mizoram in which one person was injured. After which the situation has become more tense.

Informing about the incident, local district deputy commissioner H. Lalthalangaliana said the incident took place late at night around 2 p.m. The shooting took place in Hailakandi district of Assam. Three people from Vairangate village went to a friend to get meat. The friend is a resident of Assam while the meat picker is a resident of Mizoram.

During which a man was injured in a sudden firing by Assam police. After which, there is an atmosphere of tension on the border of both the states. Earlier, six Assamese were killed on the same border. While in Assam, trucks from Mizoram were stopped by heavy vandalism. On the other hand, a curfew has been imposed in the Tea Garden area where the shooting took place. There was a heavy clash between the two groups here in which some were injured. Police have arrested six people involved in the incident. A curfew has been imposed and efforts are being made to control the situation, police said.
