Jammu and Kashmir: Work on the Khilani tunnel started with the first blast

A tunnel will be constructed at Khilani to facilitate travel on the Doda-Jammu Highway for the people of Doda and Kishtwar districts of Kashmir. This will also make the path of Suddha Mahadev easier. Construction began on Thursday with the first mine blast.

The first tunnel of the project is being constructed at Khilani Kendra, a few kilometers from the district headquarters of Doda. District Collector D.C. Sharma inaugurated the project with Bhumi Pujan on this occasion. The length of this tunnel to be constructed at a cost of Rs 3 crore is 18 km. Work on the tunnel is expected to be completed within the next two years.

Four more tunnels will be constructed to prepare the Suddha Mahadev road. This project will prove to be very useful for the people of Doda, Kishtwar, Chhabu, Suddha Mahadev. This will reduce the distance between Doda-Jammu and Srinagar, resulting in tourists being able to reach their destination earlier.
