India in 'wait and watch' mode on Taliban issue, govt explains strategy at all-party meeting

The Indian government held an all-party meeting on Afghanistan on Thursday. External Affairs Minister S. A team from the External Affairs Ministry led by Jaishankar briefed the floor leaders of all political forces on the situation in Afghanistan. The government said they are currently in wait and watch mode but the main focus is on getting people out of there.

According to sources, External Affairs Minister S. "The situation in Afghanistan is very bad," Jaishankar told the meeting. In that, India's focus is on getting its people out quickly. The Taliban have not kept their promise to the US in Doha.

Foreign Secretary Harsh Shringala also gave a presentation at the meeting. About 15,000 people contacted the Indian government's help desk in Afghanistan, the government said. The whole world is still adopting a wait-and-watch policy towards the Taliban. India is also on that mode.

All political forces were reportedly praised for their efforts to expel Indians from Afghanistan.

Several leaders of the opposition participated

It may be mentioned that in this meeting, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Parliamentary Minister Prahlad Joshi, Piyush Goyal and others from the government were also present. Leaders from the Opposition like Sharad Pawar, Mallikarjun Khadge, Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary and members of other political forces attended the meeting.

India is constantly trying to get people out of Afghanistan. India had already evacuated its embassy staff. Now the focus is on getting the trapped Indians out. Apart from that, Hindus and Sikhs living in Afghanistan are also being brought to India.
