In Assam, militants killed five truck drivers and set them on fire

In Dima Hasao district of Assam, militants killed the driver of five coal-laden trucks and set them on fire, police said in a statement.

According to police, militants from the Dimasa National Liberation Army opened fire on trucks lined up in the Rangerbill area, five km from Diyunmukh police station, on Thursday night.

Police said two drivers died at the scene and three drivers died at the hospital during treatment. The trucks were carrying coal from Dima Hasao's Umrangshu to Lanka.

A combing operation was carried out to nab the extremists. According to a senior police official in the district, security has been beefed up in the area where the incident took place.

According to the truck owners, the extremists demanded money from them. He has demanded that the authorities provide adequate security.
