Floods weaken in Madhya Pradesh, still forcing 14,000 people to live in relief camps

New Delhi: The monsoon started late this year in the national capital, Delhi, though it is currently raining so heavily that the entire city and its environs have been flooded causing traffic jams. Delhi received 7 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours.

On the other hand, the flood situation in Madhya Pradesh is improving. However, according to the Madhya Pradesh government, 14,000 people are still being held in relief camps in the state. And as the situation improves, so does public life.

Union Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, who conducted a survey of the ecosystem in Gwalior and Chambal province with the help of aircraft, said there had never been such a flood in Gwalior in the last four decades. The Center and the state have so far rescued 15,000 people and relocated them to safer places.

On the other hand, the meteorological department said that West Bengal and Sikkim are likely to receive rains during August 11-12. Heavy to very heavy rains are also expected during this period. Meanwhile, heavy rains are also expected in Madhya Pradesh and East Rajasthan during the next two days. There is also a possibility of rain in Maharashtra.
