ANKARA: At least 27 people have been killed so far in landslides in various rivers and mountains of Turkey, and the possibility of an increase in the death toll cannot be ruled out. On Friday, rescue workers found 10 bodies and more than a dozen people were still missing, a government official said.

Extreme levels of flood danger were announced in many rural areas, including Bartin, Kastamonu, Sinop, and Samson on the shores of the Black Sea.

The government has so far evacuated 1,700 people. The worst-hit areas were in the province of Kastamu, where water from a large spring burst into the city and wreaked havoc on a town called Bozkut.

Extreme levels of flood danger were announced in mountainous regions and forests in the province, which is a favorite destination for foreign travelers such as the Mughals and Anatolia in southern Turkey. However, wildfires have killed at least eight people and forced thousands to flee their homes.
