Five people were arrested for posting defamation against judges

Hyderabad, Sunday 8th August 2021

The CBI has nabbed five people for posting an affidavit on social media against Andhra Pradesh High Court judges. The CBI's action was taken up by Chief Justice of the Supreme Court N.V. The effect of Ramna's comment is believed.

Justice Ramna had said two days ago that no action was taken by the CBI and IB when lower court judges complained of receiving threats. He was commenting on the murder case of a district judge in Dhanwad (Jharkhand) during a hearing on Friday.

A complaint was lodged by an Andhra court two years ago to probe the conspiracy behind the defamatory post, but now the probe into the matter has been expedited.

Jharkhand District Judge Uttam Anand was allegedly killed in an auto rickshaw collision on July 28 while he was jogging in the morning. The incident, which was earlier considered a hit-and-run case, turned out to be a premeditated murder after watching CCTV footage as the driver deliberately hit the judge on a smooth road in the morning.
