Export of Indian Dragon Fruit, first shipment from these 2 states to London and Bahrain

The Central Government is working towards promoting the export of foreign fruits produced in India. For the first time, a consignment of fiber and mineral-rich dragon fruit grown on farmers' farms in Gujarat and West Bengal has been sent to London and Bahrain. Dragon fruit is also known as Kamalam in India.

The consignment of foreign fruit Dragon Fruit which has been exported to London was received from the farmers of Kutch region and was exported by Apida Packhouse in Bharuch, Gujarat. While the consignment of Dragon Fruit sent to Bahrain was procured from farmers in West Midnapore, West Bengal and exported by the enterprises registered in EPIDA at Kolkata.

Earlier in June 2021, a consignment of Dragon Fruit was procured from farmers of Tadasar village in Sangli district of Maharashtra and exported to Dubai by APIDA.

Dragon fruit production began in India in the early 1990s. Due to the high export value of dragon fruit, its popularity in the country has increased a lot and farmers from different states are cultivating dragon fruit. There are 3 main types of lotus which include pink white, pink red and yellow white dragon fruit.
