AYUSH-64 is distributed in every district of the country to patients with mild symptoms of coronary heart disease. The government is also campaigning nationally for the drug, but a different picture emerges in medical studies.

A team of 16 doctors from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS) in Jodhpur and the National Institute of Ayurveda in Jaipur found the drug ineffective. The study, published in the medical journal Medrexiv, found no significant benefit from AYUSH-64 in a medical study on a group of different patients.

In his opinion, it is very important that the drug be tested on a large scale. While the Ministry of AYUSH, CSIR and other institutions under the Central Government have claimed that this drug is beneficial. Previous hydroxychloroquine, ivermectin, steroid-containing drugs, remedivir, plasma, and covacin have also been tested against different scientific claims.

What is AYUSH-64

AYUSH-64, developed from herbs to combat malaria in 1980, is being used to treat corona virus. On April 29, the Ministry of AYUSH released the results of a clinical trial of the drug, which it said was capable of fighting the virus as well as strengthening the immune system.
