Doctors, Anandas, Non-Practice Allowance approved by the State Government

New Delhi, 24 August 2021 Tuesday

The Government of Gujarat has approved non-practice allowances as per the recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission for Physicians working in Government Hospitals of the State and Professors of Gujarat Medical Education and Research Society (GMERS) Medical Colleges.

Announcing the allowance, Deputy Chief Minister and Health Minister Nitin Patel termed it as a gift of Raksha Bandhan Parva for doctors. Nitin Patel has also posted his announcement on Facebook.

It may be noted that the Gujarat government had in May this year approved this non-practice allowance for teachers of six government colleges as per the Seventh Pay Commission. A few months later, he, along with professors from 3 GMERS medical colleges, agreed to withdraw his strike.

Dr. Rajneesh Patel, President of Gujarat Medical Teachers Union, welcomed the decision of the state government and termed it as a right step. It may be noted that GMERS Medical College is a semi-government institution established under the Gujarat Medical Education and Research Society of the State Health Department.
