New Delhi: The price of LPG cylinders has gone up by Rs 25. The Congress has also criticized the BJP government at the Center. The price of LPG cylinder has gone up by Rs 265 in the last nine months. This means that the price of LPG cylinders has gone up by 44 per cent in the last one year.

It may be mentioned that the price of 14.2 kg LPG cylinder in Delhi has gone up to Rs 859 after the price of LPG cylinder was increased by Rs 25 yesterday. LPG cylinder prices have been hiked for the second month in a row. Earlier, on July 1, the price of an LPG cylinder was hiked by Rs 25.50.

According to the price notification issued by the state-owned oil companies, the price of a liter of diesel has been reduced by 19 to 21 paise across the country. While there has been no change in the price of petrol.

LPG cylinder prices have doubled in the last seven years. According to Congress spokesperson Supriya Srinath, the central government has hiked the price of LPG cylinders by Rs 265 since November 2020. Which represents an increase of 44 per cent. The Congress spokesperson further said that since May 2020, the government has not paid any subsidy on LPG cylinders.

The subsidy on fuel was Rs 1.47 lakh crore in 2014, which has been reduced to Rs 12,000 crore in 2021. The Congress further said that despite the central government earning Rs 4.53 lakh crore from the fuel tax, the government has not given any relief to the general public.
