Citing the example of Akbar-Jodhabai, the High Court said that conversion for marriage is wrong.

Uttar Pradesh, dated 4th August 2021, Wednesday

UP's Allahabad High Court gave an example of history during the hearing of a Love Jihad case on Tuesday. Religion is a matter of faith.

In this case, the court gave the example of Mughal emperor Akbar and his wife Jodhabai. The court said that forcible conversion does not have faith for any religion. This type of conversion is due to pressure. Conversion just to get married is futile. Even the constitution does not recognize it.

The court said that Akbar married Jodhabai without converting to Islam. The two respected each other's religion and religious sentiments. Religion never interfered in the relationship between the two.

In a case in Uttar Pradesh's Eta district, a young man is accused of first converting a Hindu girl into darkness and then marrying her. The girl had confessed before the judge and the young man has been sent to jail on the basis of this.

The court made the above remarks during the hearing of the bail application of a youth named Javed and rejected the bail application of the youth.
