TOKYO: India's women's hockey team has reached the semi-finals for the first time in its Olympic history. Hockey World's major upset today was a 1-0 win over Australia. India got only one penalty corner in the match which they converted into a goal while India thwarted eight penalty corners of Australia.

Australia is a three-time Olympic champion in 1988, 1996 and 2000. Became world champions in 1994 and 1998. He has also been a four-time Commonwealth Games champion.

The Netherlands, Australia and Great Britain are considered powerhouses in women's hockey. India beat Great Britain 3-1 to advance to the quarterfinals, while India beat Australia in the quarterfinals to advance to the semifinals against Argentina. India is ranked ninth in the world while Australia is ranked second in the world.

India's Gurjit Kore converted a penalty corner in the 22nd minute which was the only goal scored in the match. Australia reached the quarterfinals of the Olympics without losing a single match, while India made a comeback after losing three matches in a row in the group.

Goalkeeper Savita's maximum contribution to India's victory can be said. He did not allow Malone's power shot into the goalposts to prevent Australia from scoring in the first quarter of the match. India's fast and aggressive pace of play was unimaginable for Australia so they got frustrated and went into defensive style.

She then directly qualified for the 2016 Rio Olympics. In which they were ranked last. Thus India can be called a huge deer.

Australia got their first penalty corner in the 20th minute of the attack. Which was thwarted by India. Gurjit scored in the second minute with a penalty stroke.

Goalkeeper Savita played a role like an impenetrable wall when Australia were desperate to score in the final stages of the game and they were awarded three penalty corners in a row.

Deep Grace Ekka's defense game was also noteworthy. In the last eight minutes, Australia got four penalty corners but they were not successful. The Australians cried with great frustration.
