New Delhi, 31 July 2021 Saturday

People are turning to electric vehicles as petrol and diesel prices go up, but the charging is problematic and raises suspicions. Consumers have questions about not having enough charging stations for electric vehicles.

However now this problem will go away. Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited has teamed up with state-run Convergent Energy Services Limited to set up electric vehicle charging networks in major cities of the country. The two have signed an agreement for the next 10 years, which aims to use the HPCL retail outlet to set up these EV charging stations.

These EV charging stations will be set up in major cities across the country, including Mumbai, Delhi, NCR, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata and Pune, with all types of charging options ranging from fast chargers to regular slow chargers. HPCL has also entered into an agreement with another agency called Shuchi Anant Virya for a similar operation.

It is well known that HPCL is one of the leading oil companies in the country. Which has more than 20,000 retail outlets across the country. CESL is a 100% wholly owned subsidiary of Energy Efficiency Services Limited. This is a new energy company. EV charging points to be set up with the help of CESL will be managed through an app of a state-run agency.
