The number of cancer cases is being studied by the National Cancer Registry Program (NCRP) in the PBCR project under ICMR-NCDIR, Bengaluru.

The data obtained from this study will be used to formulate cancer prevention, treatment and policy. The highest incidence of tobacco-related cancers is in the north-eastern states of India.

Cancer is a disease that spreads slowly throughout the body. It is difficult for a cancer patient to survive if not treated in time. Prevention is possible if the cancer is diagnosed at the right time and treatment is started.
