Arrest of Narayan Rane, know what the law says

Mumbai: BJP Union Minister and Rajya Sabha MP Narayan Rane has been arrested for his remarks against Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. Let's see what the legal provision says about the arrest of the Union Minister is a big deal.

Under the provisions of the Indian Penal Code, violators of the law can be arrested by a state agency. All citizens of the country are bound to obey the law. Criminal proceedings cannot be instituted against persons holding constitutional positions like High Court and Supreme Court Judge, Governor, President, Election Commissioner, Chairman of UPSC. But neither the minister nor the Union minister falls into this category of privilege. Arresting them does not violate the constitutional provision.

In Nashik, Shiv Sena leader Sudhakar Badgujar had lodged a complaint against Narayan Rane at the Mahad police station. In his complaint, Sudhakar said that Uddhav Thackeray is in the constitutional position of Chief Minister of the state. His insult is an insult to the entire state. Rane said during the BJP's Jana Aashirwad Yatra that it was a shame that the Chief Minister did not know how many years had passed since independence. During the speech, he was seen asking the details behind this. I would slap loudly if I were there.

Rane also knocked on the court door to avoid arrest, but the court refused to grant him immediate relief and asked him to follow proper procedure.
