An ultimatum to Infosys to rectify all the shortcomings of the IT portal by September 15

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaram has asked Infosys to rectify technical issues related to the new income tax portal by September 15. Earlier, he had raised concerns with Salil Parekh, CEO of Infosys, the company that developed the portal, about the technical flaws associated with the website.

According to official sources, Nirmala Sitharaman met Salil Parekh in her office. During the visit, the finance minister asked the CEO of Infosys why the website was not working properly even two and a half months after its launch.

During the meeting, Infosys MD and CEO Salil Parekh said that he and his team were making all possible efforts to ensure that the portal was running well.

According to a statement issued by the Income Tax Department, during the meeting, the Finance Minister asked the CEO of Infosys to make more efforts to rectify the technical shortcomings of the website so that the problems faced by the taxpayers could be resolved quickly.

After the meeting, the income tax department said in a statement that the finance minister had asked Infosys to rectify all the deficiencies in the website by September 15. During the meeting, the finance minister expressed concern over the difficulty faced by taxpayers due to the lack of a website. Infosys has sought an explanation for the frequent flaws in the website.

It may be mentioned that on August 21 and 6, the website of the income tax department was completely shut down. Following which, the Finance Minister called on the CEO of Infosys, the creator of the website, to meet him today.
