As Corona's second wave slowed, air travel picked up. This has led to a huge increase in the price of air tickets at present. The situation is that the price of a business class ticket from London to Delhi has come down to around Rs 5 lakh.

The British Airways flight from Delhi to London on August 26 has a business class fare of Rs 4,96,155. On the same day, the fare for economy class has reached Rs 1,60,364. Fares on major international routes from India have skyrocketed in the last one month amid heavy demand.

According to EaseMyTrip.com, the average economy class fare for flights from Delhi to New York was Rs 69,034 in July, which rose to Rs 87,542 in August.

Rock on commercial flights

The government has banned normal commercial international flights since March 23 last year. Currently, the flight service is available only for those who need to travel, including students.

Complaints by people

People are complaining on social media about such high air fares. The Union government tweeted to Sajeev Gupta, secretary of the inter-state council secretariat of the home ministry, that a British Airways flight from London to Delhi on August 26 was being charged Rs 3.95 lakh.

"Prices always depend on supply and demand," an area spokesman said. Currently only 15 flights are allowed on the UK route from India. Prices will start to fall on their own when more capacity is allowed.
