A bizarre and shocking case of robbery has taken place in Ghaziabad near Delhi.

Elderly couple Surendra Verma and his wife Aruna Verma live in Rajnagar sector here. His three daughters have married and settled abroad. At around 3.30pm on Monday night, four thugs wearing masks broke through the gate of the house with a gas cutter and broke in.

They had weapons like pistols and knives. He tied up the couple and looted Rs 1.5 lakh in cash and jewelery worth Rs 4 lakh from the house.

Annoyingly, however, the robbers apologized to the elderly couple before leaving, saying, "Excuse us, I will return the money and jewelry in 6 months." The robbers also gave him Rs 500 and left.

Meanwhile, the police have now started investigating the matter.
