New Delhi: A high-voltage joint exercise called Malabar Navy Exercise of four quad nations, namely the US, India, Japan and Australia, will be held from August 26 to August 29 off the coast of Nakda Island in the Pacific Ocean.

The second Malabar Navy exercise is taking place in the Indo-Pacific region at a time when China is increasing its military prowess, which will add fuel to China's stomach.

The Indian Navy's steeled frigate INS Shivalik and the anti-submarine INS Kadmat arrived at UAM on Saturday to take part in the exercise. Guam is a small US-owned island region in the western Pacific.

Indian Navy spokesperson Vivek Madhavani, spokesperson for the Indian Navy, said that the Indian Navy would showcase its best strength in this high-voltage exercise, including its destroyer ships, helicopters and anti-submarine ships and frigates.

The exercise will also include various firing drills hitting the air from the surface of the water and drills on how to rescue underwater submarines, he added.

Given China's proactive efforts to dominate the Pacific Ocean, the Navy is cooperating with the United States, Japan, Australia and India to increase its cooperation and protect its interests in the Pacific.
