Where the second wave was stronger, the third wave would not have much effect: ICMR

New Delhi, Dt. 20 July 2021, Tuesday

As the second wave of Corona transition has subsided, a third wave is forecast in India.

However, the Indian Council for Medical Research says that if the third wave comes next month, some experts are predicting a third wave in October-November. The ICMR, meanwhile, says the impact of the third wave will not be greater in areas where the second wave spread more transition.

According to a study by ICMR and Imperial College London, the third wave will not have as much of an impact in the states where the second wave was strongest. Because a large portion of the population in such areas has become corona positive during the second wave and will also have antibodies in them, the force of the third wave will be less in such areas. In states where the first and second waves did not have much effect, the third wave is more likely to have an effect.

The third wave could be evacuated if vaccinations pick up, the study said. Where the transmission of the second wave was low, people need to be vaccinated quickly. Because the risk of the third wave is higher in people who have not been infected before or who have not received the vaccine. May come.

The study said that the corona vaccine currently being administered in the country is very effective in preventing deaths from corona. If a person is vaccinated and becomes infected with the corona, it is very unlikely that he or she will die. Only 6 out of 100,000 people who receive both doses are at risk of death.
