Twitter has not complied with new IT rules: Centre's reply in Delhi High Court


New Delhi: The Center has told the Delhi High Court that Twitter Inc. It has failed to comply with the new IT rules. Which is the law of this country and its observance is mandatory. In the affidavit, the Center told the Delhi High Court that despite giving all SSMIs (important social media intermediaries) three months to comply with the IT Rules 2021, which expires on May 26, Twitter Inc. has failed to comply.

The Center told the Delhi High Court that Twitter had failed to comply with IT rules 2021 till July 1. This includes not appointing a Chief Compliance Officer, a Resident Complaints Officer, a nodal liaison person (even on an interim basis) and not showing a physical fitness address on Twitter's website.

The Center told the Delhi High Court that the IT Rules, 2021 are the law of the land and Twitter must abide by them. According to the Center, any non-compliance is a violation of the provisions of the IT Rules, which may result in loss of immunity under Section 79 (1) of the IT Act, 2000.
