Twitter appointed a resident grievance officer who leaned against the Indian government


Two other officers have not yet been appointed

New Delhi: Twitter has had to bow to the country's rules. Twitter has appointed Vinay Prakash as Resident Grievance Officer and has also released a monthly report on the action taken against Twitter accounts in various cases.

However Twitter has yet to appoint two other executives under the country’s new IT rules. The micro-blogging site Twitter now seems to be slowly getting on the road. He has appointed a Resident Grievance Officer under the rules framed by the Government of India.

Twitter has been in controversy for some time now for not complying with India's new IT rules. According to the new IT rules, social media companies with more than 50 lakh users will have to appoint a grievance officer, chief compliance officer and nodal officer.

According to the new rules, all the three officers must be residing in India. The company also said in the Delhi High Court that the process of appointing a Chief Compliance Officer and a Residence Grievance Officer has been started under the IT rules.

He further said that the appointment process is expected to be completed by July 11. Twitter said it had processed 5877 information requests. Out of a total of 86314 global requests, seven per cent notification requests have been received from India. Of these, 4782 are regular, 615 are emergency and 480 are both types of requests.
