The Congress is likely to undergo drastic changes in the coming days. The party wants to appear in an active mode amidst the rising tide of conflict within the party and pressure from other allies.

Sources said that three formulas have been formulated for change in the party. As part of which, a person from outside the Gandhi family can be made the Congress president. Because Rahul Gandhi is determined to make someone different from the family the president. Now the party is also likely to accept this.

On the other hand, Rahul Gandhi may be ready to become the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha. As part of the second formula, the party may urge Sonia Gandhi to become president by 2024. Or the third formula is that Congress leaders can force Rahul Gandhi to become the party president. However, Rahul Gandhi is not ready to take up the post at this stage.

On the other hand, factionalism has surfaced in the Haryana Congress. Former MLA Bhupendrasinh Hooda's group of 22 MLAs on Monday opened a front against Kumar Sailaja. The MLAs had reached Delhi to meet senior party leaders and demanded that Hooda be made the state president in place of Kumali Sailaja. Because after Om Prakash Chautala's release from jail, it is necessary to give a free hand to Hooda to maintain the Jat votebank.
