New Delhi: Amid long-running discussions of a change of leadership in Karnataka, Chief Minister B.S. S. Yeddyurappa immediately met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday and party president JP Nadda and Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday, sparking speculation of his resignation.

According to sources, Yeddyurappa, 78, has offered to resign due to ill health. He has called a meeting of MLAs and ministers of the Legislative Party on July 26. However, Yeddyurappa dismissed speculations of his resignation, saying that the party had given him the responsibility of winning more seats in the next state elections, contrary to speculation of resignation.

According to sources, due to his advanced age and ill health, it is no longer possible for him to become the Chief Minister. During a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday, he proposed to resign due to increasing age and ill health. He also called on BJP chief JP Nadda today. Here too Yeddyurappa reiterated this.

However, Yeddyurappa, 78, described his Delhi tour as a success. Before leaving for Bengaluru after a meeting with the Union leadership, Yeddyurappa said the Union leadership had asked him to continue as chief minister and there was no discussion of a change of leadership in Karnataka. Rejecting his resignation, Yeddyurappa said he had been asked to strengthen the party in the state. He has been asked to win the next elections in the state.

Assembly elections will be held in Karnataka in 2023. Yeddyurappa met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, party president JP Nadda and Rajnath Singh. He said that in every meeting with the central leadership of the party, development in the party state and empowerment of the party in the forthcoming assembly elections were discussed.

He said that it was the duty of the Chief Minister to discuss the issues of his state with Delhi and bring its solution. In the same context, I will also come to Delhi in the first week of August. However, hinting at a change of leadership in Karnataka, Yeddyurappa said the party's high command had assured him that a decision on Karnataka's next chief minister would be taken soon.

The BJP assembly will meet on July 26. Until then, Yeddyurappa will remain in his post. According to sources, Yeddyurappa has also made it a condition of the high command that his son be included in the Union Cabinet in return for his resignation.

Now the question is who will be the next Chief Minister of Karnataka after Yeddyurappa. The name of the Chief Minister will be chosen in a day or two. At the forefront of the CM race is Prahad Joshi. He is a cabinet minister in the Modi government and is accompanied by an MP from North Karnataka. Another name is BL Santosh.

He has been a minister in the organization for a long time and is currently the national organization minister. He is considered a very good administrator. Besides, Deputy CM Laxman Sawdi, BJP leader Murgesh Nirali and Vasavaraj Ethanal are also the main contenders. Dissatisfaction with Yeddyurappa has long been rife in Karnataka. Yeddyurappa is facing allegations of corruption from within the party itself.
