Scream from the heat: In Canada, where there was a village until yesterday, ash is flying today

Extremely high temperatures caused forest fires to flare up again

The U.S. and Canada have been experiencing extreme heat for the past eight to ten days. The heat has engulfed the entire village of Leighton in the Canadian province of British Columbia. The village is surrounded by dry forests, which caught fire from the heat.

The fire spread slowly and became fierce. When the fire reached near the village, the villagers were told to evacuate. On Friday, the fire broke out again in the village and almost all the houses in the village were on fire.

Bar-Vis, a government representative in the area, said 90 per cent of the village had been burnt down. Colder regions like Canada and the United States are experiencing unimaginably high temperatures. Behind the temperature is responsible an environmental condition called the hit dome. Global warming is also responsible for this situation.

Once in a thousand years the condition of the hit dome is created. Authorities began evacuating about 1,000 people living in Leighton after seeing the blaze on Wednesday. However, not all were able to get out until the fire broke out. So people had to run away with whatever they felt.

A couple around the age of 60 died. As many as 500 deaths have been reported in the US-Canada due to the ongoing heat wave. This is the largest number of heat-related deaths in North American history. Leighton recorded a temperature of 49.6 degrees on Thursday. This was the highest temperature in the history of Canada.

The first recorded temperature in Canada was 45 degrees in 1937. The wind was blowing at a speed of 70-72 kmph with the fire. The fire has now made it difficult to reach Leighton village as the fire has reached the highway. The fire damaged the highway and the hydro station in the area.

Due to the heat, air conditioner cooling centers have to be started in Canada and the United States. Vancouver, the largest city in British Columbia, currently has 25 cooling centers where people can go and enjoy the cool air. Many people said that our house does not have AC because the area is already cold. It is becoming difficult to live in such houses now.
