New Delhi: The controversy over phone tapping of several leaders, including Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Prashant Kishor, has reached Parliament. During the monsoon session in Parliament, the Opposition raised the issue of phone tapping and demanded the resignation of the Home Minister. According to the report, the phone was tapped from the Pegasus software of the Israeli company NSO which contained the numbers of 300 people.

According to media reports, the phone tapping was revealed by Israeli software Pegasus. The list also includes Rahul Gandhi. The 300 Indians whose numbers have been tapped in the NSO list include Rahul, Prashant Kishore, IT and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, Union Minister Prahladsinh Patel, while other leaders include former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje's PS numbers.

Not only that, there are 300 Indians including Union Minister Smriti Irani, OSD Sanjay Kachru. The number of Pravin Togadia of Vishwa Hindu Parishad was also tapped by this spyware. Among others, Jagdeep Chokhar, founder of the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), Gagandeep Kang, the country's top virologist, and a woman who had leveled allegations against former Supreme Court Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi were also targeted.

The matter, on the other hand, caused a stir in Parliament. The Congress had demanded the resignation of Home Minister Amit Shah. Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala had accused Rahul Gandhi's Modi government of spying. While Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that the report was being spread to derail the development journey.

A certain section is spreading reports of such phone tapping to discredit India internationally. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav dismissed the phone tapping report in Parliament as false. Former Union IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad said that the NSO itself had said that we provide Pegasus software to 45 countries, which is why India was targeted.

Amazon closed Pegasus' company account

WASHINGTON: Amazon Web Services (AWS) has shut down a linked account with infrastructure and NSO Group, an Israeli surveillance firm that sells Pegasus spyware, a move revealed in a global collaborative investigation project. Number of more than 300 persons is then taken.

"As soon as we learned of this type of activity, we shut down the infrastructure and accounts associated with it," an AWS spokesman told Motherboard.
