Nine arrested after hours of clashes with police gunmen in the US

Wakefield: Massachusetts State Police said they arrested nine gunmen after an hour-long altercation. This caused Interstate 95 to be partially closed. Police said two of the nine suspects arrested had been arrested earlier.

Clashes with gunmen forced some parts of the I-95 to close in the morning, disrupting traffic on a large scale. July 4th was Independence Day in the United States and the traffic was heavy.

Authorities reopened the southbound interstate, but closed the northbound lane. The clash began at half past one in the early hours of the morning, when police saw two cars dangerously throwing lights on the I-95 highway and running out of fuel. Eight to 10 people in both had long guns and pistols with military-style gear, state police chief Christopher Messen said.

He added that they were going from Maine to Rhode Island for training. They refused to lay down their arms and obey the orders of the authorities, claiming that their group did not obey our laws. Authorities used negotiators to communicate with him. Mason said the group's self-styled leader demanded that they be portrayed in a way that did not make them anti-government. "I believe that the investigation that followed this dialogue will give us more information about their intentions and their ideology," Mess said.
