After a challenging duty at the LOC, a woman soldier of the Assam Rifles will now also handle the internal security front. These women soldiers have also played a key role in anti-terror operations ranging from the campaign against drug trafficking in the tense sector of North Kashmir. Now this Rifle Woman has also been deployed at the checkpoints.

Rifle Woman is also part of the Assam Rifle Battalion, said Major General HS Sahi, GOC, Army Kilo Force. He has to do all the work just like the male soldiers. In the valley, women soldiers have recently been deployed at Kangan in Bandipora and Ganderbal districts. They have been deployed with male soldiers at routine checking and mobile vehicle check points. Rifle Woman has done an admirable job in entering and searching homes where women are present during any operation.

Become a role model for young women

The deployment of women soldiers will help them perform their duties better and more professionally, the GOC said. Apart from that, Rifle Woman will be a role model for young women who want to wear army uniforms.

Rekha Kumari, a rifle woman from Vardhman in West Bengal, said she had also served in Manipur and Nagaland before being deployed in the valley. There were many doubts before coming to Kashmir but have come here for national service. There are many misconceptions about Kashmir that have been dispelled by the people here. The people here are good.

Captain of the Daughter Force of Jammu and Kashmir

The deployment of Rifle Women in the Indian Army was first made to the LOC in August last year. The woman was also a member of the Assam Rifles. He has been posted on deputation in Tangdhar sector of North Kashmir. Captain Gursimran Kaur is leading a contingent of 30 women soldiers. Captain Gursimran Kaur is the only daughter of Jammu and Kashmir. His father and grandfather in the family have also served in the army and he is a third generation army officer.
